Clair de Lune • Dreaming of Antibes
I've been working on a large painting entitled 'Clair de Lune • Dreaming of Antibes'. The painting measures 63" high by 9' wide. In metric that's 160 cm high by 274.32 cm wide.
The beauty of this project is that I only listened to one piece of music while painting it .... the ever lovely 'Clair de Lune' by Claude Debussy. Debussy's early childhood was spent in the French Riviera and I believe was inspired by the beauty of the region - certainly substantiated by the composition: La Mer.
The story of this painting is of a girl, an artist, who escapes the realism of her days by dreaming of the place she loves the most: Antibes. If you stand before this painting while listening to the music of Clair de Lune, I believe you can see the lyric melody surface in the design, color and movement of this piece.
