Cafè terrace at night
30 X 30 acrylic on stretched canvas
ok ... still recovering ... or at least trying. My friend Patricia, who works for the city, stopped by Villa Fontaine before dejeuner ... and brought croissants !!! Les croissants in France are fabulous !!! buttery and flaky ... parfait.
So ... we both had free time and were looking forward to sharing dejeuner together. It's a long process in France ... shopping in the market, selecting vegetables and berries and melons, strolling home, slicing and preparing ... lemons and salt and pepper and olive oil ... setting the table ... a process ... which I love and I try to live this way in the US of A. Eating healthy and tasting 'freshness' ... and listening to great music ... the way I love to live ...
After a lovely dejeuner ... since my sleeping patterns are off, I am tired ... home to the Villa Fontaine for a small rest ... then painting. It's obvious to me, to look at the painting prior to the robbery ... and then see the painting afterward ... light to dark ... BUT have faith that light is returning ... each moment in this beautiful town of Antibes, France ... Cote d'Azur ...

Ann,
We spoke to Barba-del over the weekend and she told us the sad news, we feel horrible that this happened in your beautiful sanctuary on the Riviera.
Did not realize until reading your blog that you were in the villa when the thieves crept in, so thankful that you were not physically hurt.
Hoping that J&D's visit will boost your spirits. Sounds like your friends in Antibe, both old and new are providing wonderful support.
We send you our love and will be thinking of you,
Your D's (and Spot too, and... our little surprise guest you'll have to meet when you return)
Ann, I am glad you are OK also. How awful for you to have this happen to mar your beautiful experience. However, the good times will always overpower the bad. I am loving your photos and stories.
Love,
Steph
Ahhh ... thank you SOOO much ... I am ok and Happy !!!!!
Spectacular painting, and spectacular lunch!!!
Also, very sorry to hear about your terrifying incident.
