After the end of summer, I always take great pleasure in returning to the kitchen to prepare hearty and comforting meals. A favorite of mine, and one that I would create for my Mother and Father in the last couple years, is beef stew. I've photographed it simmering on my stove and added it to my blog last year.

Not only is it coveted as a delicious meal that gets better and better with each warming of the 'leftovers', but also because the rich aroma fills my home and transcends my thoughts to the safe and simple times of years gone by ...
