Stethoscope and the Beating Heart

Stethoscope and the Beating Heart • this painting is sold

Older age is highly overrated as some would say. There's a chance to lose the person we recognize as ourself. Your life as you know it, your social skills, your body control ... and even your thoughts. So what lures someone to take on the challenges of care for the older person? Is it money or job availability or even by chance? For any reason or in any case, there's a common thread entwined in each and every one of the caretakers that I have come to know at Phoebe Ministries. Certainly, it's a dynamic mixture of respect for humanity and health and common decency ... but what I see linked throughout each person that touches our new family life is kindness. The 'hello, how are you?' each morning, the becoming familiar and seeing 'staff' as 'friend', the observation of tenderness, the sharing of grief.

So, please know how much you are appreciated. Thank you Cathy and Sharlee and Judy and Rosa and Melinda and Mercedas and Diane and Carol and Karla (I miss you) and Jenny and Pearl and Rosa and Joe and Jackie and Michelle and Linda and Donna and Noah and .....

Nice Memorial Day reminder of how important caregivers are. I don't know how they do it.
