Oysters and Pearls

Oysters and Pearls

If you haven't been by The Farmhouse Restaurant in Emmaus, Pa for a while, maybe it's time to stop in again. It's such a treat! If you're on the self-employed artists' budget, you can still treat yourself to a brick oven baked gourmet pizza and a glass of wine for about $20.00. My friend Bonnie and I went last Friday and had a great time !

I also am currently having an exhibition there - 35 paintings in 10 rooms. Every painting is for sale (except one that might go to France).

If you're a planning a romantic date, I would highly recommend The Farmhouse - ask for the 'private' table in the yellow room on the first floor.

Mmmm ... I can't wait to go there again with my friends Dave and Drew - we're planning for Saturday. If you see us there, stop by and say 'hi'.

Bon Appétit !!

Lime Wedges

Lime Wedges

So, it's Monday morning ... the day after Easter. We had a wonderful dinner at my niece's home with all of the family ... after that I stopped at the cemetery to visit my Parents.

It's still such a shock to realize that they are not with us here on earth. But, if I know my folks, I can see my Dad telling my Mom a funny story and teasing her, laughing and flirting and loving each other ... for 60 years ...

But, it doesn't ease the missing them ...

Parking Ticket

Parking Ticket

Yes, I realize that working for the Parking Authority MUST be one of the worst jobs in the world. What customer is happy when they come in with their ticket and explanation why they should not have been ticketed.

I stand firm on my reasons ... I was reporting a crime, I didn't see the sign and there was notice that Only Authorized Vehicles park beyond the space where I parked - so of course I thought everything was fine .... besides, I was in the police station for only 10 minutes !!!! WHY should I have to pay 35 dollars ?? The Parking Authority rejected my appeal. Next time, if there is a next time, maybe I just don't report the crime ...

King Oscar Sardines

King Oscar Sardines

King Oscar has been producing the world’s finest sardines for over 100 years. But did you know that sardines aren’t actually a fish species – sardines become sardines through a traditional processing method. As many as 11 different species of fish are used to make sardines around the world. At King Oscar, they use remarkably tiny and tender brisling caught wild in the pristine Norwegian fjords and the North Sea, as well as sild and other small fish netted in the Baltic Sea. For superior quality, each and every one of our sardines is packed by hand. Healthy for your heart and your whole body, sardines are a top source of Omega-3’s, protein, calcium, and vitamins B12 and D.

I have never even opened this container of sardines to taste them ... but I did enjoy sardines in Antibes and Nice, France ... Mmmm ...

Angostura Bitters

Angostura Bitters

Originally from Germany, Johann Siegert, a doctor of medicine, left his homeland in 1820, the call of adventure ringing in his ears. He was bound for Venezuela, to join with Simon Bolivar in his fight against the Spanish throne. Bolivar then appointed him Surgeon-General of the Military Hospital in the town of Angostura.

Dr. Siegert was above all a scientist. A scientist with a keen inquiring mind. He had seen soldiers battered by the enemy from without and within, by severe fevers and internal stomach disorders.

From the beginning Dr. Siegert was determined to wrest a cure from nature itself and after four years of trial and error, researching and analyzing the qualities of tropical herbs and plants, he finally arrived at a unique blend of herbs which he called “Amargo Aromatico” or aromatic bitters. The year was 1824.

Monopoly • Luxury Tax

Monopoly • Luxury Tax

Well, my focus this weekend was organizing my taxes. All these little receipts, tabulating the pluses and minuses ... I never had a massage in my life ... unbelievable I know - the French live for massages ! BUT, I must tell you that I am more than ready for my first !!

Ahhh ... wouldn't it be nice to own Boardwalk - of course for those of you who know me, I'd sell it and move to Antibes !!

Just for the record, I always loved the shoe the best ... with the top hat a close second.

Orchestrating Eggs Benedict

Dinner with Pouilly Fuissé

Eggs Benedict

Bon Appétit !!

So, today PBS had a French focus with each program that aired. I was in French heaven ... but that's redundant for sure. In one program, Chef Hubert Keller created an Eggs Benedict that would have you salivating !!! So ... after spending time in my studio, I stopped at Valley Farm Market and purchased my ingredients for my own version of Eggs Benedict.

As you can see, trés magnifique !!! I toasted French bread in the oven, created my hollandaise sauce, steamed asparagus, baked smoked salmon ... and poached the eggs. Three eggs to be exact because one poached egg slipped off the slotted spoon in transition and ended up on the floor. No worries, eggs poach quickly.

So, thank you Sharon and Dave for the marvelous addition to my dinner - a chilled bottle of Pouilly-Fuissé !!! It was the perfect complement to my meal.

Eggs Benedict dinner:
Grilled French Bread, pan-seared tomatoes, smoked salmon, poached eggs, homemade hollandaise sauce, tarragon, capers, steamed asparagus .... Mmmmm !!!

The only thing missing .... my future French husband ... that would have made my evening 'parfait' for sure !!
